The Government Media Office in Gaza announced today, Saturday, that the number of children killed due to malnutrition so far is 67, while more than 650,000 children under the age of five face a real and immediate risk of severe malnutrition in the coming weeks, out of a population of 1.1 million children in the Gaza Strip.
The Media Office said in a statement that the tight blockade on the Gaza Strip has entered its 103rd consecutive day, since the Israeli enemy forces closed all crossings and prevented the entry of food, medicine, and fuel, in one of the most severe crimes of collective siege in modern times.
It explained that the famine afflicting the Gaza Strip is worsening day by day, and that over the past three days, dozens of deaths have been recorded due to the lack of food and essential medical supplies in a truly brutal humanitarian situation.
The enemy is persisting in its crime by completely preventing the entry of flour, baby formula, and nutritional and medical supplies and supplements, as part of a systematic policy to starve the population, especially children, and deprive them of the most basic necessities of life.
It noted that approximately 1.25 million people in Gaza are experiencing catastrophic hunger, while 96% of the Strip's population suffers from severe levels of food insecurity, including more than one million children. This is a shocking reality that reflects the scale of the unprecedented humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.
