Dr. Radwan Al-Rubbai, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, met on Sunday with Major General Ali Hussein Al-Houthi, Undersecretary for Security and Intelligence at the Ministry of Interior, to discuss aspects of joint cooperation aimed at combating the smuggling of agricultural products and production inputs.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Rubbai underscored the importance of integrated roles, coordination, and collaboration in confronting smuggling, which significantly harms local products and adversely affects development plans, import regulation, and efforts to achieve self-sufficiency.

He emphasized the need for strict enforcement measures and the enhancement of monitoring tools to safeguard the local market and support national production.

The Minister reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders in order to combat all forms of smuggling and protect domestic products.

For his part, Major General Al-Houthi expressed the Ministry of Interior’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing anti-smuggling strategies, intensifying efforts to apprehend smugglers, and enhancing joint coordination to protect national resources.
