The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said ,yesterday ,that children in the Gaza Strip are dying of hunger due to severe food shortages and malnutrition, warning that the Strip is facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe due to the ongoing Israeli aggression for nearly 22 months.

In press statements on Sunday, the office explained that "children in Gaza are suffering from severe emaciation, and some of them are losing their lives before any food aid reaches them."

It emphasized that "searching for food has become a deadly risk, as civilians are exposed to gunfire while trying to obtain food."

It added that "starvation should not be used as a weapon of war," stressing that "allowing unimpeded humanitarian access is a legal and moral obligation on all parties."

Since March 2, the Israeli enemy has tightened its siege on Gaza, completely closing the crossings and preventing the entry of food, medical aid, and fuel. This has led to a serious deterioration in the humanitarian situation and widespread famine among the population, especially children.
