The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education reported on Tuesday that 18,489 students have been martyred and 28,854 others injured since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the West Bank on October 7.
According to the ministry’s statement, the majority of casualties occurred in Gaza, where more than 18,346 students were killed and 27,884 wounded. In the West Bank, 143 students were martyred, 970 injured, and 740 arrested.
The ministry also stated that 970 teachers and administrative staff have been killed, and 4,533 others injured in both Gaza and the West Bank, with more than 199 educators arrested in the West Bank alone.
In terms of infrastructure, 160 public schools have been completely destroyed in Gaza, along with 63 university buildings. Additionally, 118 public schools and 93 UNRWA-run schools were targeted and damaged. The Zionist aggression has led to the complete erasure of 25 schools — including their students and staff — from the educational registry.
In the West Bank, 152 schools have been vandalized, while eight universities and colleges have faced repeated raids and destruction. Due to the ongoing conditions, university education has shifted to online platforms.
