The Zionist "military" has acknowledged continuing the demolition of buildings in villages in southern Lebanon despite the declared ceasefire, according to statements by several of its commanders reported by the Zionist newspaper "Haaretz" on Sunday.

Commanders in the Zionist "military" told the newspaper that dozens of engineering vehicles had been brought into the area in recent weeks and are being operated by civilian contractors, some of whom are paid bonuses based on the number of buildings they destroy.

The commanders added that civilian buildings in border villages are being systematically demolished, noting that some of these contractors had previously carried out similar destruction in the Gaza Strip. According to one source cited by the newspaper, approximately 20 excavators are operating simultaneously.

The report stated that the destruction includes large-scale demolition of homes, public buildings, and even educational institutions. It added that the Zionist "military" refers to this policy as the “Money Plow,” aimed at systematically destroying buildings in a manner similar to what occurred in the Gaza Strip.

Since expanding its offensive against Lebanon on March 2, Zionist forces have been attempting to establish what they describe as a “security belt” in border areas of southern Lebanon. However, resistance operations have prevented them from maintaining positions in many villages.

On Saturday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem outlined five priorities for the next phase:

  • A permanent cessation of aggression across all of Lebanon by air, land, and sea

  • Full withdrawal of Zionist forces from occupied lands up to the border

  • The release of prisoners

  • The return of residents to their villages and towns up to the border

  • Reconstruction with Arab and international support under national responsibility

Also on Saturday, Hezbollah Political Council Deputy Chairman Mahmoud Qomati stated that there would be no return to the situation prior to March 2. Meanwhile, Lebanese Member of Parliament Hussein Hajj Hassan emphasized the need for a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and a full cessation of aggression without any “freedom of movement” for the occupation.

Israeli enemy forces continue their attacks on southern Lebanon as part of ongoing violations despite the ceasefire, which came into effect at midnight on Thursday and is set to last for 10 days.

On Friday, one Lebanese civilian was killed and three others were injured, including a Syrian national, following an Israeli enemy airstrike that targeted a motorcycle and a car on the public road between Kounine and Beit Yahoun in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon.
