Seventy-five members of the British Parliament have signed an urgent parliamentary motion (EDM 2822) calling on the UK government to take deterrent punitive measures against "Israeli" authorities, in response to plans aimed at annexing land in the West Bank and the escalation of blatant violations of international law.
The motion, submitted by MP Richard Burgon, strongly condemned a decision issued by "Israeli" authorities in February, which provides for the legalization of the seizure of Palestinian land in the West Bank and its registration as “state property.”
The motion described this plan as an illegal act that directly aims to appropriate more of Palestinian land and undermine the rights of its people.
It also stressed the necessity for the United Kingdom to uphold its international obligations by ceasing any support that contributes to the continuation of Israeli occupation, and by preventing all commercial activities that reinforce the settlement system.
