The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the crisis surrounding shortages of medicines, medical consumables, and laboratory testing materials continues to worsen, with many supplies remaining at zero stock levels.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the ministry confirmed that 47% of essential medicines are currently out of stock, while 59% of medical consumables and 87% of laboratory testing materials have also reached zero inventory levels.
The ministry added that medications related to cancer treatment, blood diseases, primary healthcare services, kidney care and dialysis, as well as psychiatric medications, are among the sectors most severely affected by the ongoing crisis.
It also noted that medical consumables required for eye surgeries, cardiac catheterization procedures, and kidney dialysis are among the items experiencing critically worsening shortages.
According to the ministry, the lack of laboratory testing materials necessary for Complete Blood Count (CBC) tests, blood gas analysis, clinical chemistry tests, and other laboratory consumables is threatening the ability to conduct essential medical examinations for patients.
The ministry warned that the continued depletion of supplies is further undermining the efforts of medical personnel, increasing patient suffering, and contributing to the accumulation of medical complications.
The Gaza Health Ministry stressed that all concerned institutions must intensify emergency efforts to strengthen medical supply chains and ensure the delivery of essential materials to healthcare facilities.
On October 8, 2023, the Zionist enemy launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip with American support, during which more than 72,000 Palestinians were killed and over 172,000 others were injured.
Despite a ceasefire agreement remaining in effect since October 2025, living conditions for Palestinians in Gaza have not witnessed significant improvement amid the Zionist side’s failure to fulfill its security and humanitarian obligations under the agreement.
