The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, announced that the first meeting of the joint Strait of Hormuz Committee with the Omani side was held during his visit to Muscat.

Gharibabadi explained that during the meeting, views were exchanged with the Omani side regarding the future management of the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides, and in a manner that respects the rights of the countries bordering the strait.

In the same context, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously emphasized, during discussions with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, the launch of a dialogue between the two sides to determine the future of management and maritime navigation services in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran and the Sultanate of Oman had previously agreed to form a joint committee to discuss the management of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, within the framework of following up on the memorandum of understanding and emphasizing the security and safety of navigation, while preserving the rights of the bordering states and the stability of this vital waterway.
