Thousands gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday for a major anti-government demonstration, three days before the October 27 general election, with protesters demanding accountability for the failures surrounding Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, AFP reported.
The rally was organized by the October Council, a group founded by families of those killed and taken captive during the October 7 operation. The group is demanding an independent commission of inquiry into the security failures surrounding the attack.
“Three days before the election, we will hold the culminating event marking three years of struggle to uncover the truth, demand accountability, and establish a state commission of inquiry,” the October Council said ahead of the rally.
The demonstration is expected to feature senior figures from opposition parties, including Gadi Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, Avigdor Liberman, and Yair Golan.
The election is being held amid a closely contested race between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud-led bloc and opposition groupings, with current polling showing neither side projected to secure the 61 seats needed for a parliamentary majority.
