Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed to his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, that their countries must strengthen strategic coordination to promote peace in the Middle East.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, during his meeting with Lavrov in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, Wang said that both Beijing and Moscow must "push toward a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis."

He added that "peace cannot be achieved through force, and applying pressure will not resolve the problems," emphasizing that dialogue and negotiations are the way out of this crisis.
