The Palestinian Center for Defending Journalists (PJPC) condemned the killing of journalist Ahmed Abu Aisha on Thursday, in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Al-Sawarah area west of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

The center said in a statement that Abu Aisha, an editor at the Palestine Today news agency, had documented the massacres of civilians in Gaza for more than 21 months.

It added that the Israeli army killed Abu Aisha, along with Mahmoud Abu Darbi, Mahmoud Zaqout, and Mohammed Al-Sultan, this month.

The center emphasized that the United Nations and the international community are called upon to take immediate action to stop the targeting of journalists and prevent the use of military force to obstruct their journalistic and professional work.
