The United Nations Security Council holds an emergency session Sunday to discuss the Israeli occupation’s plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip—an initiative that has drawn widespread international condemnation.

The session was requested by the United Kingdom, Denmark, France, Greece, and Slovenia in response to the Israeli proposal, which was approved by the Israeli Security Cabinet early Friday. Russia, China, Somalia, Algeria, Pakistan, Guyana, South Korea, and Sierra Leone later backed the call, leaving the United States as the only Security Council member not supporting or requesting the session.

Broad International Rejection

Governments across Europe, the Arab world, and international organizations have denounced the Israeli enemy’s plan as a violation of international law. They are urging Israel to abandon the proposal, agree to a ceasefire, release detainees, and facilitate humanitarian access to Gaza.

According to UN data, 87% of Gaza’s territory is either under Israeli occupation control or under evacuation orders. The UN has warned that any further military expansion could have catastrophic consequences.

Israeli Occupation Approves Mass Mobilization, City Evacuation Plan

Amid rising tensions, the Israeli public broadcaster reported Sunday that the government has granted War Minister Israel Katz the authority to mobilize up to 430,000 reservists until November 30, 2025. The move is described as part of broader preparations to escalate military operations.

The plan also includes a full military takeover of Gaza City, expected to unfold over at least six months. It begins with the evacuation of residents to temporary shelters in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, within two weeks—a process estimated to last roughly six weeks. Ground operations inside the city would follow.

Six Israeli military divisions are set to participate in the campaign: Divisions 162, 36, 98, Gaza, 99, and 146. Division 146 is scheduled to begin deployment within a month, with Division 98 joining subsequently.

According to Israeli sources, a full siege of Gaza City is planned to commence on October 25.
