Interior Minister, Ahmad Hajjar, on Monday announced the preemptive arrest of terrorists before carrying out attacks in Lebanon, in addition to pro-Israeli traitors some of whom played a role in 2024 war.

Hajjar also revealed the foiling of a massive drug smuggling attempt from Lebanon involving 6.5 million Captagon pills and 700 kilograms of hashish.

Hajjar toured the headquarters of the Information Branch’s Protection and Intervention Unit at Sahet al-Abed, where he held a security meeting and later announced the dismantling of an international trafficking network spanning Lebanon, Turkey, Australia, and Jordan.

The network’s ringleader and several members were arrested after months of surveillance.

Hajjar said the Information Branch has quietly and effectively carried out multiple operations, leading to arrests linked to terrorism, espionage, and organized crime. “Several individuals and small groups involved in terrorism were recently detained in preemptive operations, in addition to arrests of collaborators with the Israeli enemy,” he added.

The minister stressed that the drugs, destined for Saudi Arabia through Beirut Port, were intercepted before shipment thanks to local intelligence and operational precision. “Crime has no sect or region. Combating narcotics is a nationwide effort,” Hajjar said, affirming that no political cover shields offenders and that full political backing is provided to security forces.

Hajjar also noted that the Lebanese Army recently dismantled a drug factory, while coordination continues with security agencies in Syria, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Jordan. “Every violator of the law will be prosecuted and referred to the competent judiciary,” he said.
