The General Secretariat of the Office of the Presidency organized a commemorative and recognition ceremony on Sunday marking the Annual Martyr’s Anniversary for the year 1447 AH.

During the event—attended by department heads, their deputies, directors-general, and families of the martyrs—Ali Nour Al-Din, Head of the Oversight and Inspection Department at the General Secretariat, described the Martyr’s Anniversary as a vital moment for drawing strength, resolve, insight, and awareness.

He noted that many nations and peoples have risen and progressed only by honoring those who sacrificed their lives for their countries’ freedom, security, and independence. He affirmed that this is a historical truth and a fundamental driver of advancement, as such commemoration instills values of courage and patriotism, reinforces identity and belonging, and inspires future generations to follow in their footsteps in the pursuit of the nation’s elevation.

Nour Al-Din added that across civilizations and societies throughout history, it has been customary to glorify the sacrifices of those who played decisive roles in their people’s existential struggles—especially those tied to freedom, security, independence, dignity, and collective honor.

He also highlighted the high and noble status martyrs hold with Allah Almighty and in Islamic teachings, emphasizing that martyrs occupy a distinguished rank granted by Allah, who declared them “alive,” not to be regarded or described as dead, but living with their Lord, sustained by His bounty.

Speeches delivered during the ceremony underscored the importance of remembering the sacrifices of the martyrs as a source of inspiration for current and future generations—motivating them to continue working, striving, and advancing the nation while confronting the challenges it faces.

The event also featured documentary segments and a performance by Al-Risalah choir, celebrating the values of jihad and martyrdom and highlighting the lessons drawn from the martyrs’ sacrifices in defending the homeland. The ceremony concluded with honoring the families of the martyrs from among the staff of the General Secretariat of the Office of the Presidency.
