The number of victims since the start of the US-Israeli aggression against the country has risen to 1,348 martyrs and more than 17,000 wounded, Iran’s Emergency Organization announced on Tuesday.

Schools, a hospital, and historic landmarks have sustained severe damage amid US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, with civilian casualties continuing to rise, satellite images and videos verified by the BBC showed.

The updated figures were released as attacks on various Iranian cities continue.

Civilian casualties mount

Five civilians were martyred after a residential building was targeted in the city of Arak during strikes carried out at dawn.

The Iranian state TV also reported that 5 Iranians were killed and 7 vehicles were burned as a result of an attack on Baqeri Highway, east of Tehran, amid ongoing US-Israeli aggression throughout Iran.

Continued confrontation

The escalation comes as Iran continues to respond to the aggression, targeting US military positions in the region and sites in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to Iranian officials.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said Tuesday it has destroyed US military infrastructure across the region and warned that Tehran will ultimately determine when the ongoing war comes to an end.

IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naieni stressed that Iran’s armed forces remain fully prepared to safeguard the region’s oil resources and security.

“Our forces are awaiting the US fleet and the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford in the Strait of Hormuz,” Naieni said, signaling readiness for further confrontation in one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints.

The spokesperson declared that Iranian forces had destroyed all critical US military infrastructure in the region, affirming that the fighting will continue and that “Iran is the one that will determine the end of this war.”

Naieni dismissed statements made by US President Donald Trump on the destruction of Iranian military assets as “pure lies and psychological warfare," asserting that Iranian strikes have placed the US president in a state of “confusion and helplessness." He added that Iran will remain steadfast with “unyielding determination” despite ongoing aggression.
