Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the launch of the 56th wave of its Operation True Promise 4, targeting key Israeli military infrastructure and a US military installation in the region.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations office, the IRGC said the latest wave of operations was dedicated to martyr Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the IRGC's Quds Force, who was assassinated in a US drone strike in January 2020, as well as fighters martyred during battles in defense of the nation's sanctities.
Stockpiles, airbase hit with precision
According to the statement, the operation targeted several strategic locations in the Israeli-occupied territories, including the Southern Region Support Command and a strategic missile storage facility belonging to Rafael Advanced Defense Systems in the northern occupied territories.
The IRGC said the strikes were carried out using heavy and precision-guided ballistic missiles, including Khorramshahr-4, Emad, and Ghadr missiles, stressing that the designated targets were hit with precision.
The statement also said the attacks extended to the US military presence in the region, noting that the US-operated al-Udeid Airbase was struck during the operation.
Drone strikes reported in Erbil, Iraq
Simultaneously, IRGC drone units carried out strikes against positions belonging to Kurdish separatist militants in Erbil, according to the statement. The IRGC said the attacks targeted militant positions linked to separatist groups operating in Iraqi Kurdistan.
US President Donald Trump has eyed Kurdish separatists in Iraqi Kurdistan to lead a ground offensive on Iran, amid continued US-Israeli airstrikes targeting the country. Meanwhile, Iranian armed forces have taken swift action to target the assets and hideouts of the separatists in the region.
The latest operation comes as Iran continues to escalate its military response to the US-Israeli aggression under Operation True Promise 4, which has seen successive waves of missile and drone strikes against Israeli and US military infrastructure across the region.
Earlier on Monday, the IRGC had launched attacks on Israeli military positions and assets in the vicinity of the Ben Gurion Airport, the Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) facilities, Al-Dahfra Airbase in the United Arab Emirates, and the Al-Juffair naval support base and Sheikh Isa Airbase in Bahrain.
The attacks employed a wide variety of ballistic missiles, including Fattah, Emad, Ghadr, Fateh, Zolfaghar, and Dezful, in addition to one-way attack drones.
