Five people were killed in a strike that targeted a house in the Jadriya area in central Baghdad early Tuesday, according to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent.

The strike came shortly after rocket and drone attacks targeted the US Embassy inside the fortified Green Zone, as reported by security officials.

Security sources stated that the attack on the embassy occurred in two phases: the first involved four rockets, followed by a second wave consisting of a combined drone and rocket assault, which resulted in black smoke rising from the compound.

Al Mayadeen’s correspondent also reported a new strike targeting the logistical support camp at the US “Victory” base at Baghdad International Airport. The embassy compound was subjected to the largest drone attack, with injuries reported inside the complex, while US warplanes were seen flying over Baghdad simultaneously with the bombardment.

On Monday evening, a drone fell onto the roof of Al-Rasheed Hotel inside the Green Zone, which houses government buildings and the US Embassy, without causing any casualties or material damage, according to a statement by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. The area also witnessed a security deployment, the closure of the street opposite the hotel, and the intervention of firefighting and ambulance teams.

Yesterday, the Secretary-General of Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq, Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, announced the killing of the group’s security official, Abu Ali al-Askari.

Oil facilities in the country were also targeted, including the Majnoon oil field east of Basra, by two drones. The first struck a communications tower, while the second targeted the office of KBR company, without causing damage. In western Iraq, the Popular Mobilization Forces announced the killing of eight of its members and the injury of others following a Zionist attack targeting the Martyr Haider checkpoint in the al-Qaim district near the Syrian-Iraqi border.

The Iraqi government stated that the “terrorist attacks on the Majnoon oil field, Al-Rasheed Hotel, and the US Embassy have serious repercussions,” while the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Numan, said following the targeting of Popular Mobilization Forces that “targeting an official regular force is a blatant violation of state sovereignty.”

US-Israeli attacks on Iraq have continued since the beginning of the current month, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries across various Iraqi regions. Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has escalated its military operations against what it described as “enemy bases in Iraq and the region,” as part of deterrence and in response to US-Israeli attacks on Iraq and the region.
