The exchange of messages between Iran and the United States has been suspended for at least several days, an informed source told Fars News Agency on Tuesday, affirming that discussions surrounding a proposed memorandum of understanding are currently on hold.

The same source said the pause in contacts comes after Tehran's latest message to Washington, which focused on the current developments in Lebanon. The message, as per the source, conveyed a clear Iranian position on the issue and attracted widespread international attention.

Rezaei: Lebanon remains an integral part of any final deal

In the same context, Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei reiterated Tehran’s firm position that Lebanon must be included in any final agreement, stressing that it constitutes an inseparable part of the ceasefire.

Rezaei made the remarks following a meeting between the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Majid Takht-Ravanchi. He explained that the Iranian Foreign Ministry is monitoring the ceasefire in Lebanon and the end of Israeli aggression as an essential component of the agreement.

The committee spokesperson noted that members of the parliamentary National Security Committee emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran would never forget Hezbollah’s support and its defense of the Iranian people, particularly in light of the recent aggression targeting the country.

Rezaei reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to standing alongside the Lebanese people and its full support for Hezbollah.

Ghalibaf to Berri: Any Iran-US agreement must end war on Lebanon

Simultaneously, the Iranian Parliament called for a firm and forceful response to the ongoing crimes and attacks committed by the Israeli entity in Lebanon, stressing the need to coordinate efforts to strengthen the resistance.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf held a phone call with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday, reaffirming Tehran's commitment to securing a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon and warning that continued Israeli aggression could derail ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Ghalibaf told Berri that any agreement reached to end the confrontation between Iran and the United States would include an end to attacks across all fronts, "especially in Lebanon."

The developments come amid heightened tensions following recent Israeli threats to target Beirut's southern suburbs and expand its aggression against Lebanon. The threats prompted warnings from Iran and factions within the Resistance Front that any escalation would be met with a response.

Following a series of political and security consultations, including Iran's decision to halt its dialogue with the United States, the threatened escalation against Beirut's southern suburbs was ultimately averted. Nevertheless, Israeli attacks have continued against areas in southern Lebanon, while retaliatory operations have also been reported in northern occupied Palestine.
