France's disinformation detection agency has accused an Israeli technology company of running coordinated influence operations targeting the Scottish parliament elections earlier this year, in what authorities say is part of a wider pattern of interference spanning multiple countries and continents, The Guardian reported.

Viginum, the French government body tasked with detecting foreign digital interference, identified the firm BlackCore as the operator behind a series of proxy social media campaigns targeting Scottish First Minister John Swinney, the Scottish National Party, and the Scottish government.

The agency made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday alongside French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
