The US government has warned Americans in the West Asia region to "remain highly vigilant", citing the current security environment and the possibility of an unexpected escalation amid continuing regional tensions.

The warning said people currently in the region should be prepared for potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other disruptions to travel, and advised Americans to reconsider traveling to or through the region.

Those who choose to travel were urged to closely monitor updates concerning airport and airline operations because of the potential for disruptions.

The statement also pointed to the current Saudi aggression against Yemen, including attacks on airports, and warned that the confrontation could rapidly escalate. This follows the Saudi-led attack against Sanaa International Airport last month and the following aggression, to which the Yemeni Armed Forces have been responding to. 

Moreover, Washington claimed that diplomatic facilities, including those located outside the region, have been targeted, adding that Iran and the Axis of Resistance could expand targets to include US interests overseas. These allegedly include US businesses and other institutions. 

It is worth noting that US military assets in the region have been targeted over the past year amid Washington's war on Iran, which was launched despite diplomatic negotiations with the Iranian government.
