The Parliament of the Republic of Yemen affirmed that Yemen had long remained committed to the peaceful option, demonstrated sincere intentions, and supported all genuine efforts aimed at achieving peace. However, the Saudi regime has gone too far in its military and economic escalation and brazenly reneged on its previous commitments and pledges to implement the roadmap.
In a statement, the Parliament said the Saudi regime had attempted to circumvent the requirements of a just and honorable peace and continued its blatant interference in Yemen’s internal affairs.
The Parliament condemned the contradictions and double standards governing the positions of the United Nations and the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, which were once again laid bare in his latest briefings to the Security Council. While the crimes of aggression and the ongoing blockade are met with absolute silence, international platforms are being used to condemn the legitimate right to self-defense and denounce natural responses to continued arrogance.
The following is the full text of the statement:
The Parliament of the Republic of Yemen is following, with profound indignation, the contradictions and double standards that characterize the positions of the United Nations and the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, which were once again exposed in his latest briefings before the Security Council. The crimes of aggression and the ongoing blockade are met with absolute silence, while international platforms are mobilized to condemn the legitimate right to self-defense and denounce natural responses to persistent arrogance.
This manufactured outcry once again exposes the international system’s spectacular failure in the test of humanity and morality. This world of hypocrisy has long turned a deaf ear and a blind eye to crimes of genocide, the comprehensive blockade, systematic starvation, and the targeting of civilian objects, infrastructure, and vital facilities in Yemen through hundreds of airstrikes every day. It has remained unmoved by the blood of children and women and the destruction of the nation’s resources, abandoning its legal, moral, and humanitarian responsibilities to become a tool in the hands of hegemonic powers and their instruments in the region.
The Parliament affirms that the Republic of Yemen has long adhered to the peaceful option, demonstrated sincere intentions, and supported all genuine efforts aimed at achieving peace. However, the Saudi regime has persisted in its military and economic escalation and brazenly reneged on its previous commitments and pledges to implement the roadmap, seeking to circumvent the requirements of a just and honorable peace while continuing its blatant interference in Yemen’s internal affairs.
In the face of this continued Saudi intransigence and the moral and political collapse of international bodies, the Parliament stresses that any consultations that do not seek to compel the Saudi regime to fulfill all its commitments and cease its escalation and military buildup are futile.
Accordingly, Yemen will not stand idly by. Legitimate deterrence equations have become an established reality on the ground, from which there can be no turning back, in accordance with the rules of engagement announced by Sana’a and based on the following principles:
-
An airport for an airport, as equal retribution: Any targeting or coercive action against the airports of the Republic of Yemen will be met with the targeting and disruption of the airports of the aggressors.
-
A blockade for a blockade: Whoever blockades the Yemeni people and restricts their resources will not enjoy security in their ports or maritime navigation. This equation will remain in force until the aggression ceases and the comprehensive blockade against our people is lifted.
-
Escalation for escalation: Whoever initiates aggression, reneges on the path to peace, and evades their obligations must alone bear the burden and full responsibility for all consequences.
The Parliament unequivocally affirms that the era of having a free hand to act against Yemen has ended irrevocably, and that politicized statements and political hypocrisy will not deter the Yemeni people and their armed forces from securing their full rights and enforcing their sovereign equations in defense of their dignity and honor.
Shame and disgrace upon all those who trade in the blood of peoples. Victory to a proud, free, and defiant Yemen.
