Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem reaffirmed that Lebanon will continue its resistance against the Israeli occupation, declaring that defending the nation is a sacred duty that transcends time and international pressure, no matter how great the sacrifices become.
Speaking during the annual massive Ashura procession in Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh), Sheikh Qassem condemned ongoing Israeli aggression and emphasized that the enemy continues to occupy Lebanese territory in clear violation of ceasefire agreements.
“We will never yield to this aggression. How can anyone expect us to remain passive while the enemy persists in its occupation, attacks, and bloodshed?” His Eminence asked.
Resistance: A Sacred and Enduring Mission
Sheikh Qassem vowed that the beacon of resistance would continue to shine for future generations, affirming Hezbollah’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of those who gave their lives to protect Lebanon’s dignity and sovereignty.
“This is the resistance of Imam Sayyed Mousa Sadr and Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, the master of the martyrs of this nation. We shall keep the covenant.”
In a symbolic address to Imam Hussein (AS), Sheikh Qassem echoed the timeless pledge of loyalty from the companions of Karbala: “We shall not forsake you, O Hussein.”
“We gather in these processions not just to commemorate, but to renew our allegiance to the path of resistance,” His Eminence added.
No to Occupation, No to Normalization
Hezbollah’s leader reiterated a firm rejection of normalization with the Israeli occupation, describing it as a humiliation unworthy of the Lebanese people.
“We are determined to uphold the resistance and preserve this trust. We will not be part of legitimizing the occupation, and we categorically reject disgraceful normalization. Our choice is the choice of Hussein (AS). Our thunderous people will never accept humiliation or surrender.”
Sheikh Qassem pointed out that the Israeli enemy has violated the ceasefire agreement thousands of times, stressing that such breaches undermine any future talks.
“A new agreement cannot be built on submission. This aggression must be halted. Resistance is a legitimate solution. The continued existence of the Israeli occupation is the real crisis that must be confronted.”
Conditions for Dialogue and National Defense Strategy
Sheikh Qassem stated that the Israeli enemy must first fulfill its obligations—withdraw from occupied territory, end its aggression, and allow for reconstruction—before any discussions on Lebanon’s national security or defense strategy can proceed.
“We are ready for national dialogue, and we have the flexibility to reach an agreement. But first, the enemy must comply.”
His Eminence also rejected US pressure, denouncing what he described as Washington’s “false choice” between submission and death.
“We are men of the battlefield. Between humiliation and dignity—never shall we accept humiliation.”
Prepared for All Scenarios
Sheikh Qassem affirmed Hezbollah’s readiness for both calm and confrontation.
“We are fully prepared for both options—whether building the nation and contributing to its stability and prosperity or standing in defense of our land. We know no defeat, and we will never abandon our dignity and rights.”
His Eminence also responded to demands that Hezbollah relinquish its weapons, particularly its missile arsenal.
“Do not assume we lack power. On the contrary, our strength lies in our unity. Hezbollah and the Amal Movement stand as one in every confrontation. Our missile capabilities are the foundation of our defensive power, and surrendering them is out of the question. We insist on living in a free, sovereign, and dignified nation.”
Regional Support and Solidarity
Sheikh Qassem praised Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei for his courage, faith, and steadfast guidance, extending gratitude to the Iranian people for their resilience in thwarting Israeli and American agendas.
His Eminence also expressed unwavering solidarity with the people of Gaza, calling them “among the noblest and most honorable on earth,” and affirmed that Palestine will remain in the hands of its rightful people.
Turning to Yemen, Sheikh Qassem described it as a “beacon of jihad and dignity,” noting that its resistance model has humiliated both the United States and the Israeli enemy.
Historic Ashura Participation
Concluding his address, Sheikh Qassem highlighted the exceptional turnout for this year’s Ashura commemorations across Lebanon.
“This year witnessed an extraordinary presence in the condolence ceremonies and the mourning rituals. It was one of the most remarkable and inspiring years to date.”
