Prime Minister Ahmed Ghalib Al-Rahwi participated today in an expanded preparatory meeting organized by the Sana’a Secretariat to launch the activities commemorating the Mawlid al-Nabawi 1447 AH under the slogan: "But the Messenger and those who believed with him fought with their wealth and their lives. Those will have good things, and it is those who are the successful."
Al-Rahwi stressed the importance of this inaugural event as a step toward honoring the final Prophet and Messenger—the exemplary leader, teacher, and guide, Muhammad ibn Abdullah (peace be upon him and his family and companions). He described the Mawlid as one of the most honorable and cherished celebrations among the Yemeni people and the wider Muslim Ummah. He called for embodying the Prophet’s virtues such as courage, honesty, trustworthiness, loyalty, and zeal, while striving for the welfare of the Yemeni nation and the broader Muslim community.
In a related statement, the Grand Mufti of Yemen, Sheikh Shamsuddin Sharaf al-Din, affirmed that Allah Almighty bestowed a great blessing on all humanity with the birth of the best of creation, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family). He emphasized that the Mawlid is a profound blessing that Muslims should celebrate, honor, and elevate in status.
Sheikh Sharaf al-Din noted that while the Muslim Ummah today is veering away from the Prophet’s path, the people of Yemen have remained steadfast since Islam’s dawn, committed to the Prophet’s guidance and reverence. He highlighted that the Mawlid celebration honors the moral values of the Prophet and venerates his noble person and tolerant Sharia. The Grand Mufti stressed that since Allah exalted His Prophet in the Quran, it is incumbent upon all creation to honor him accordingly.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several state leaders, deputy secretaries of the Sana’a Secretariat, directors of executive offices and districts, members of local councils, mobilization officials, tribal sheikhs, prominent social figures, and community leaders.
