The Yemeni media Union has strongly condemned what it described as a war crime committed by the Zionist aggression through its direct targeting of the headquarters of 26 September and Al-Yemen newspapers in the capital, Sana’a.
In a statement issued, the Union confirmed that the attack led to the martyrdom and injury of several journalists and media workers, in addition to dozens of casualties among residents of the surrounding neighborhood. The Union described the strike as a heinous act that disgraces humanity and adds to the ever-growing record of Israeli crimes against journalists and civilians.
The statement expressed full solidarity with the families of the martyrs and the wounded, as well as with the broader Yemeni press community, which it said is facing systematic targeting by Israeli forces.
Reaffirming its unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza, the Union denounced what it called a genocidal war waged by the Zionist killing machine, and called on the international community, including UN bodies and human rights organizations, to urgently condemn the attack, hold the perpetrators accountable, and put an end to the culture of impunity that Israel continues to enjoy.
The Union also urged all Arab and international journalist unions and associations—foremost among them the Federation of Arab Journalists and the International Federation of Journalists—to raise their voices and show solidarity with both Yemeni and Palestinian journalists facing systematic targeting by the Israeli enemy.
The statement concluded by affirming that targeting the free word and national press will only strengthen the resolve of journalists to expose the crimes of Israeli aggression and to continue telling the truth in defense of their peoples' right to freedom, dignity, and sovereignty.
