The Intisaf Organization for Women’s and Children’s Rights has condemned the escalation by the Saudi enemy and its targeting of civilian areas and facilities in a number of governorates, in a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and the protections they guarantee for civilians and civilian objects.
In a statement, the organization denounced the horrific crime committed by the Saudi aggression on the Sherjab–Al-Turbah road in Taiz Governorate, where a passenger bus carrying citizens was targeted in two airstrikes. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of a young man and a woman, the miscarriage of a pregnant woman and the loss of her fetus, and injuries to seven civilians. The crime once again exposes the extent of disregard for civilian lives, including those of women, and the enemy’s indifference to the rules prohibiting attacks on civilians and civilian means of transportation.
The statement also condemned the airstrike that targeted a fuel station in the Hiran area of Dhamar Governorate, resulting in the martyrdom of one citizen and injuries to three others. It further condemned a series of airstrikes that struck telecommunications networks, civilian areas, and vital facilities in the governorates of Raymah, Ibb, Sana’a, Hodeidah, Saada, and Al-Bayda, with the potential for direct and indirect harm to civilian populations and disruption of services and infrastructure.
The statement pointed out that targeting roads, civilian transportation, civilian facilities, telecommunications networks, and vital installations amid continued aerial bombardment represents a dangerous pattern of violations that endangers civilian lives and deepens their humanitarian suffering, particularly that of women, children, and the most vulnerable groups.
It affirmed that targeting civilians cannot be justified under any pretext and that legal responsibility remains applicable to any attacks that fail to comply with the principles of distinction and proportionality. The organization called for serious and independent investigations into these crimes, accountability for those responsible, and guarantees that they will not enjoy impunity.
The Intisaf Organization renewed its call on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and work to halt the targeting of civilians and civilian objects, ensuring the protection of women, children, and civilians in accordance with international law.
