Taiz Governor Ahmed Al-Masawi has affirmed readiness to open and secure roads to ease civilian suffering and ensure the delivery of food, medicine and fuel across the governorate.
Al-Masawi announced the readiness of several routes, including Khadir–Naqil Al-Sulw–Al-Ain–Al-Mawaset, Mokha–Al-Wazi’iyah–Al-Kadahah–Al-Nashmah, and roads serving Jabal Habashi, Al-Shamayatayn and Samie districts, for civilian traffic and essential supplies.
He said that the Sana’a-based Yemen Petroleum Company was ready to supply all districts with petrol and diesel at official prices, adding that fuel deliveries to Al-Hujariyah had begun via the Najd Qasim–Al-Bireen road.
The governor also stressed that the Central Bank had designated currency exchange points in recently liberated districts, urging traders and exchange companies to submit their exchange requirements.
Al-Masawi reiterated that roads leading to central Taiz city remain open and secure from his side, rejecting the road closures announced by Saudi-backed forces on October 2, 2026. He reaffirmed the continued opening of the Aden–Al-Turbah–Najd Qasim–Bir Pasha–Taiz city route and the Al-Hawban–Al-Qasr–Al-Kamp–Hawdh Al-Ashraf route.
He called on the opposing side to reopen roads, stressing that they should not be held hostage to political disputes, and urged all parties to cooperate in easing civilian suffering.
Al-Masawi confirmed coordination with the Hayel Saeed Anam Group and other food companies to deliver essential commodities from warehouses in Hodeidah and Aden, pledging to secure their passage to all areas.
He concluded by calling for the public interest to take precedence over political affiliations and urging all sides to facilitate civilian movement and the delivery of food, medicine and fuel to prevent bloodshed and alleviate suffering.
Taiz has faced prolonged disruptions to key transport routes during Saudi-backed forces' control, affecting civilian movement and the delivery of essential goods. Keeping roads open is crucial to improving access to food, medicine and fuel across the governorate.
