Taiz Province’s Subcommittee for Activities, Summer Courses, and Mobilization on Sunday held a closing ceremony for the 1447 AH summer courses under the slogan “Knowledge and Jihad.”
The event, staged at Al-Nabi Al-Azam Square, featured a large-scale parade and formation display involving around 4,000 students from summer, model, and scout schools representing districts across the province.
Acting Governor Ahmed Al-Masawa said the summer courses serve as a platform for building a “promising Quranic generation” armed with knowledge and learning, while also helping uncover students’ talents and creative abilities.
“Today we gather to reap the fruits of weeks of dedication and hard work in the summer courses,” Al-Masawa said. “Before us stands a promising generation whose faces shine with the light of the Quran and whose hearts are filled with dignity and pride.”
He praised the support provided to the summer programs by Revolution Leader Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, describing him as the architect of a vision aimed at safeguarding younger generations. He also commended the backing of the Supreme Political Council, the Government of Change and Construction, and mobilization authorities for supporting the courses.
Al-Masawa highlighted the role of state institutions — particularly the education, youth, health, security, and agriculture sectors — in ensuring the success of the programs and providing students with foundational skills and practical knowledge.
He said the philosophy behind the summer schools is centered on raising a strong generation guided by “Quranic values,” stressing that one of the courses’ main objectives is to instill moral discipline, honesty, humility, and virtuous conduct among students.
During the ceremony, attended by senior local officials and members of the Shura Council, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ali Hadhban said a generation “armed with the Holy Quran and faith-based culture” would be capable of confronting what he described as enemy conspiracies and “soft wars.”
Hadhban praised the student parade held at the event, saying it reflected the spirit of the Yemeni people, whom Prophet Muhammad described as “people of faith, wisdom, and understanding.”
He added that Yemen is focused on investing in human development by preparing a generation rooted in faith, Quranic culture, and Islamic teachings, capable of confronting external plots and social challenges.
Member of the Yemeni Scholars Association Habib Taher Al-Haddar said students enrolled in the summer courses represent a generation prepared to defend the nation and uphold Islamic values. He also praised the authorities for creating what he described as a suitable environment for strengthening students’ spiritual and ideological awareness.
For his part, Hafiz Al-Jaafari, director of the Quran Memorization Department in Taiz’s Guidance Sector, urged students to apply the lessons learned during the courses in their daily lives and warned against the influence of “hostile media” and harmful social environments.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Omar Al-Subaihi said the summer courses provided participants with educational and cultural training that strengthened their Quranic awareness, faith identity, and spirit of struggle.
