The United Arab Emirates and "Israel" are working to establish a joint fund aimed at financing, purchasing, and developing advanced weapon systems and military technologies, including anti-drone systems and air defense platforms, according to a report by i24NEWS citing American sources.
The report stated that the two sides are discussing a new framework for military cooperation that includes "joint purchases" of military equipment, as well as potential Emirati financing for Israeli military development projects. One source indicated that significant sums have been allocated to the fund, with the goal not limited to equipment purchases but extending to joint military capability development that leverages Israeli technology and Emirati financial resources.
According to the sources, the cooperation has expanded to include the development of counter-unmanned aerial systems (C‑UAS) and other air defense technologies, as part of a growing security partnership between the two regimes.
Normalization agreements pave the way for security cooperation
A researcher at the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies told the report that the strengthening of defense cooperation between the two sides is an extension of the normalization agreements signed in 2020, which opened the door to broader political, economic, and security partnerships.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing informed sources, that an Israeli air defense system deployed in the UAE participated in an attempt to intercept Iranian missiles on Monday.
This followed an earlier Israeli report revealing that an air defense system with Israeli operating forces had been deployed inside the Emirates during the US-Israeli aggression on Iran.
Netanyahu's secret visit to UAE revealed
Today, Israeli newspaper Maariv revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not limit himself to meetings with Emirati officials during his secret visit to the UAE, but also held additional political meetings. Netanyahu conducted a covert visit to the UAE during the US-Israeli war on Iran, a trip that was later publicly acknowledged.
The deepening military alliance between the two regimes comes as the UAE has also hosted US military assets used in aggression against Iran. Iran has repeatedly warned that any country hosting enemy forces or allowing its territory to be used for attacks on the country will be considered a legitimate military target.
Tehran has already struck Emirati infrastructure in retaliation, including airports, oil facilities, and the area around Dubai's Burj Khalifa.
