"Israel" has continued its widespread aggression on Lebanon, targeting both medical teams and residential areas.
In detail, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced on Monday that 3,020 people have been killed and 9,273 others injured in Israeli aggression across the country since March 2.
The ministry said "Israel" continues to breach the ceasefire agreement reached on April 17, through ongoing strikes on villages in southern Lebanon, repeated forced evacuation orders, and continued ground incursions and demolitions.
Systematic targeting of medics and the health sector
The Lebanese health ministry warned that at least 115 medical workers had been killed since the beginning of the Israeli aggression. Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, Lebanese medics, paramedics, rescue workers, and hospitals have come under repeated and deadly attacks, in a systematic targeting of the country’s healthcare sector.
Ambulances, emergency centers, and medical teams responding to strikes have repeatedly been deliberately targeted, while hospitals operating under immense pressure have suffered damage from nearby bombardments. Hundreds of medics and healthcare workers have reportedly been killed or wounded over the course of the attacks, as exhausted rescue crews continue to work amid collapsing infrastructure, overwhelmed emergency rooms, and the constant threat of further Israeli airstrikes.
The toll also includes more than 200 children among those killed, as per the ministry.
It is worth noting that the escalation comes even as direct Lebanese-Israeli talks are underway in Washington.
US-backed truce extension greenlights IOF aggression for 45 more days
The United States has granted "Israel" silent approval to continue its military aggressions against Lebanon under the guise of an "active ceasefire", according to a report published by the Israeli daily Israel Hayom.
Behind the headline of a "ceasefire" in Lebanon lies a de facto policy that gives "Israel" full operational freedom on that front, the newspaper stated, and the only parties perpetuating the "ceasefire lie", the report added, are those who drafted it, namely the White House and the Lebanese government.
Citing senior officials, Israel Hayom explained that the latest US announcement regarding an extension of the ceasefire is, in reality, formal and approved for Tel Aviv to carry out 45 additional days of military operations in Lebanon.
This comes after the US State Department announced on Friday a so-called 45-day extension of the ceasefire between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation following the third round of unpopular direct negotiations held in Washington, amid continued Israeli aggression, airstrikes, assassinations, and incursions targeting southern Lebanon.
Since the first ceasefire took effect until this moment, the Israeli occupation has continued to violate the ceasefire by carrying out aggressive strikes across southern Lebanon, bombing homes, destroying villages, and killing hundreds of civilians. While the Lebanese state and "Israel" continue their direct talks and negotiate ways to disarm Hezbollah, the Resistance is continuing its operations against the occupation, in defense of Lebanon and in response to the ongoing Israeli ceasefire violations.
